We Will Survive and Overcome these Times
On Wings of an Eagle

On wings of an eagle
I wish I could fly
over two towers so tall
up through infinite sky
I wish I could turn back
on history's page
before young became old
and we all came of age..
On that heart-rending day
when all the world was so changed
I'd make it all turn out different
minds and hearts rearranged..
I'd soar up through the clouds
past the 99th floor
and observe all the people
go about daily chores.
But no sun shines as bright
as it did on that day..
before two towering inferno's
were reduced into clay..
So many that day
tried to fly just like me
But they had no equipment
and only fell to the street
So many were crushed
'neath the hell that ensued
Some I might have called friend
were we given a clue..
Now dark clouds have replaced
all the blue in the sky..
and there's so little reason
to go soaring on high..
So I turn in my wings
and I give up the moon ..
and I think I'll not fly again
anytime soon..
